TIPS for your TRIP

Brazilian language: Portuguese is the official language of Brazil. Within Brazil, there are no dialects of Portuguese, but only moderate regional variation in accent, vocabulary, and use of personal nouns, pronouns, and verb conjugations.

Money exchange: The Brazilian currency is Real (R$). If you arrive in Brazil without Real, you may exchange money at the Sao Paulo International Airport (Guarulhos), before going through customs, or after going through customs. Rates vary according to the amount you are exchanging. You may also find Bank ATMs just outside the customs / International Arrival Area. Before leaving Brazil, do not forget to change the local currency as it may be very difficult to change Real outside of Brazil.

Credit card: The popular international credit cards, such as VISA and MasterCard, are nationwide accepted. Nevertheless, we suggest that you should always have enough cash (Real) ready as you can never know where your card will be refused.

PEMP location: the symposium will take place at the Convention Saloon (Salão de Convenções) of the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) located in the main campus. If you are in downtown and wish to get a taxi or walk to the university, look for “UFLA - Salão de Convenções”.
